Going Pink with a Purpose
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and MarineMax is proud to support the cause. On Wednesday, October 5, MarineMax will join the American Cancer Society’s national Power of Pink Day, as we #GoPinkWithAPurpose to increase awareness, focus on cancer screenings, and encourage those who haven’t been screened yet to do so.
According to the American Cancer Society, more than 20 million cancer screenings of all types were missed during 2020-2021 due to COVID-19. Additionally, more than 290,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and more than 3.8 million survivors are living in the U.S. today. The American Cancer Society is there for every step of a cancer patient’s journey, with support, guidance, free rides to treatment, and hosted hotel stays to facilitate access to treatment. The American Cancer Society has invested over $5 billion in cancer research since 1946, and in 2021, over $7 million was funded for early stage research for innovative breast cancer treatments.
Research proves that early detection saves lives—and MarineMax is committed to our team members’ and our customers’ health and wellness. We encourage you to talk to your doctor about which screenings are important at your age—breast cancer screenings can begin as early as age 40. Additionally, our company will donate to support the work and research of the American Cancer Society if 100% of our locations #GoPinkWithAPurpose. So, remember to join in to raise awareness on October 5 by “going pink” and visit the American Cancer Society or Making Strides online to learn more about other great ways to get involved. Through your help, we can make a difference and help save lives!
