Ocean Alexander East Coast Rendezvous 2017
It was quite a scene as nine Ocean Alexander yachts pulled into the Valentine’s Resort and Marina in Harbor Island, Bahamas for the annual East Coast Rendezvous. One by one, Ocean Alexander yacht owners, along with their friends and family, arrived on their boats ready for a fun-filled, relaxing weekend in paradise. Each year, Ocean Alexander hosts an unforgettable VIP weekend for their yacht owners, and with more than 65 people in attendance, this year was no exception.
Guests enjoyed the theme “cruising through the decades” by decorating their yachts in various time periods including the 1970s, 1980s and even the pirate era. One of the highlights of the weekend was the decade-themed costume dinner on the beach. Guests showed their creativity by dressing up in costumes such as flapper dresses from the 1920s, big hair and neon colors from the 1980s and afro wigs with groovy platform shoes from the 1970s. The night ended with guests singing along with all the greatest hits and dancing the night away.
For the adventure lovers in the group, Ocean Alexander planned several activities for their yacht owners to enjoy such as deep sea fishing and snorkeling. Snorkeling through the Bahamian waters was a favorite activity among guests. As guests explored coral reefs and an even an old ship wreck, many sea turtles, sting rays and dolphins were spotted on the excursion while some guests enjoyed the thrill of reeling in a monster fish out on the open sea. Both excursions proved to be an exhilarating time of exploring all the Bahamas has to offer.
For others, spa treatments and uninterrupted beach time was more of the relaxing pace they were looking for. Guests were able to enjoy exclusive access to the gorgeous Bahamian beaches. It was the pink sand, crystal clear water and shining sun that wowed the yacht owners. There’s something about lying on a beach chair with a mimosa in your hand that helps you forget all your worries. If lying on the beach wasn’t relaxing enough, Ocean Alexander provided spa treatments for their yacht owners at the resort’s spa. Guests could enjoy a massage, facial or manicure and pedicure. It was the perfect time to unwind for many guests.
One of the most rewarding moments of the weekend getaway was when several Ocean Alexander staff members rescued a sea turtle who was trapped in a plastic lawn chair. The turtle became wedged in one of the lawn chair’s openings unable to swim or surface for air, and it is unknown how long the turtle was trapped before the team reached the sea turtle. It required quick thinking and commitment from the staff members to finally free the turtle, but each staff member expressed how thrilled they were to help the sea turtle. Those staff members demonstrated just how important it is to take care of the ocean that we enjoy.
As the weekend was coming to a close, everyone gathered to celebrate the christening of the brand new Ocean Alexander 100, Sweet Debbie. The excited owners broke the ceremonial bottle of champagne and raised a glass to toast the momentous occasion just as the sun was setting. It was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of a new journey for the owners of Sweet Debbie.
Each year, Ocean Alexander aims to provide an exclusive getaway for their yachts owners. From start to finish, the East Coast Rendezvous was filled with relaxation, tropical excursions and comradery between guests. And while guests thoroughly enjoyed all the planned activities, it’s the connections and friendships that are made that keep customers coming back year after year. All Ocean Alexander owners are welcome to partake in this memorable weekend, so be sure to join us next year for the 2018 Ocean Alexander East Coast Rendezvous.
