MarineMax Celebrates International Marine Service Technician Week

Spring has sprung, and so has International Marine Service Technician Week! From April 24 through April 29, technicians are being recognized for their hard work and dedication within the boating industry. The American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) designated this weeklong event to bring awareness and recognition to hard-working professionals who keep boats safe, reliable, and enjoyable.
Andy Rishovd, National Service and Parts Manager, comments, "MarineMax is extremely grateful for all our hard-working technicians who keep our boats running and put smiles on customers' faces. We are thrilled to have all the stellar men and women who perform rigorous work on our boats and yachts. You are an essential part of the MarineMax family, and without you, we wouldn't be where we are today. Thank you to all our wonderful technicians!"

With an estimated 100 million Americans boating each year, the recreational boating industry supports more than 690,000 jobs and 35,000 businesses. Marine technicians make up a vital part of the maritime industry by maintaining boats properly and ensuring recreational boaters stay safe out on the water. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, the surge in demand for boats during 2020 continued into 2021, and boating remains one of the most sought-after leisure activities for Americans. New powerboat, personal watercraft, and sailboat retail sales surpassed the 300,000 mark in 2021 for only the second time since 2008. In order to retain new boaters, the marine industry needs skilled technicians to provide quality and timely repair and maintenance services. With more boats comes a greater need for highly skilled marine service technicians

Kyle Langbehn, EVP and President of Retail Operations, comments, “As the backbone of the marine industry, I want to thank all the highly skilled technicians out there helping our customers enjoy their time and connections on the water. And if you're looking to change lives, the marine industry is a perfect place. There is no better time than now to look for an exciting and rewarding career."
