Basic Coastal Navigation
Instruction on the fundamentals of coastal navigation from the perspective that the student has no current knowledge of navigation techniques. A must for anyone intending to do any coastal cruising. Topics covered include: latitude/longitude, compass theory, variation and deviation, navigation tools, charts, bearing conversion, distance/speed/time calculations, 3 point fixes, basic tide and current theory, proper plotting techniques, and more. This 8-hour curriculum includes 2 to 3 hours of hands-on chart work using skills taught. All materials included.
