Cruising is a popular activity among the MarineMax Cocoa boating family. Cocoa Beach is home to Port Canaveral with its unique mash-up of cruise ship terminals, commercial fishing fleet, commercial shipping, recreational marinas, restaurants and entertainment venues. All located on the east side of the Canaveral Lock which leads to the Banana River to the west. To reach the Intracoastal, boaters leaving Port Canaveral pass through the Canaveral Barge Canal that intersects Merrit Island. 

A popular party sandbar is Ski Island where many MarineMax team members and customers frequent on weekends for the lively and highly entertaining celebration of the boating lifestyle.

Fishing in Brevard County varies from trout, redfish and black drum inshore, bass in the areas many lakes to mahi mahi, tuna, sailfish, wahoo and snapper for those who enjoy venturing offshore. Haulover Canal and the waters of Mosquito Lagoon north of Titisville are popular for inshore fishing

Spots like north of the lock on the Banana River where anglers find redfish, black drum, trout, snook and catfish. Lake Poinsett is a 5,000 acre shallow lake that has the best bass fishing on the St, Johns chain south of Lake George. The mangroves along the Intracoastal Waterway, Haulover Canal and Mosquito Lagoon are ideal hunting grounds for sea trout, redfish and snook. Outside of Port Canaveral, offshore enthusiasts find some of the best pelagic game fishing in Florida. MarineMax Cocoa Dockside Restaurants:

After spending time on the water, the MarineMax Cocoa team recommends pulling up to the docks at the Grills Riverside Seafood Deck and Tiki. There fresh seafood is prepared by marinating and grilling in lieu of frying. Opened in 1997, Grills is on the water in Port Canaveral at the Sunrise Marina and frequently has live entertainment at its outdoor stage. Milliken’s Reef is another popular casual, spacious eatery, featuring seafood and steaks with several bars and live entertainment. If the docks are full at Milliken’s, Sunset Seafood Bar and Grill is another local favorite.  Seafood and cocktails in a nautical setting with hand-painted murals and outdoor seating make the Sunset Seafood Bar and Grill one of the top spots for local boaters. The fact that it has a western view of the setting sun over the Indian River does not detract from the ambience.
