A Season For Giving
Fill The BoatDuring the holidays, local MarineMax stores conduct “Fill the Boat” events during which they encourage people to come into the store and help fill a boat with needed items. Sometimes it is a food drive for the local homeless shelter or maybe pet supply drive. MarineMax Naples is a standout, conducting a Fill the Boat for Toys For Tots. They then give these toys to underprivelged children and families in order to spread joy for the holidays.
Occasionally, a cause comes to our attention that we just cannot help but give back. One recent cause was the impact of the 2017 hurricanes on the British Virgin Islands which has been home to MarineMax Vacations for the past several years. As part of their efforts in supporting the recovery of the British Virgin Islands, MarineMax Vacations is donating 10% of all new charter booking fees to the BVI Relief effort. This donation offer is available for new charter vacation reservations for travel between December 1, 2017 and March 1, 2018 aboard their charter fleet in the British Virgin Islands. Funds raised through this effort will go towards rebuilding the territory and assisting the island residents and business owners in the restoration of their homes and livelihoods.
"We are extremely pleased to be able to make this commitment to the residents and businesses of the British Virgin Islands. Tourism is an integral part of the economy of the islands and we are proud to be aiding in the restoration," stated Brett McGill, President and COO of MarineMax.
Community AwarenessYou'll often find your local MarineMax stores at an event celebrating your local community and businesses. Recently, MarineMax Russo in New England participated in Northshore Magazine's 3rd Annual Best of the North Shore party. Best of the North Shore is an annual event that focuses on the finer side of Boston's North Shore community. Attendees were able to enjoy samples of gourmet dishes, cocktails, wines and brews from local businesses winning the Northshore Magazine's coveted Best of the North Shore Readers' Choice Awards and Editors’ Choice Awards! MarineMax Russo is excited to have been a sponsor of this event which recognizes the best that the North Shore of Boston has to offer.
Fishing for a CauseOne of the more enjoyable ways local MarineMax stores give back is through participation and sponsorship of local charity fishing tournaments. The MarineMax Long Island store teamed up to support Long Island Cares, an organization that feeds the hungry on Long Island with their annual Fishing for a Cure tournament which raises money for cancer survivors.
Because MarineMax team members live the boating lifestyle, they are acutely aware of their environment and want to preserve the flora and fauna that we all love. Recently MarineMax Pensacola at Bahia Mar conducted a Bayou Chico Cleanup event.
“We are proud that we this opportunity to help the Bayou Chico Association restore this fragile habitat to a more natural state,” offered Loren Kortum, General Manager of MarineMax Pensacola at Bahia Mar. “It’s was chance to give back to the community we serve and the beautiful environment we all share. We are planning to make this an annual event.”
Right next door, the MarineMax Panama City Beach team members conducted a similar event on Shell Island. Both events provided all the cleanup materials and lunch for all the volunteers.
Special EventsMany MarineMax stores have chosen to support a local charity with a special event. Recently, MarineMax Fort Myers hosted a “Night of Luxury” event to raise money for their local Golisano Children’s Hospital.
“I am exceptionally proud of my team at MarineMax Fort Myers for making this event so successful for this great cause raising $40,000.00,” explained Ryan West, MarineMax Fort Myers General Manager. “Everyone had a great time while serving the sick or injured children and their families who are our neighbors and friends. The Golisano Children’s Hospital is one of finest institution serving our community and beyond.”
