National Marine Manufacturers Association released in July 2019 that new powerboat registrations were down 0.4% year-over-year on a rolling 12-month year-over-year (R12M YOY) basis. New registrations of powerboats 27' and larger were up 4.9% R12M YOY during this time frame. Wake boats, personal watercraft and cruisers led growth overall. In the shorter term, 3-month trend through July, which typically only represents approximately 11% of the annual sales, NMMA noted that overall powerboat sales were down 2.4% year-over-year.
