During the 2024 Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show, state-of-the-industry addresses were made by esteemed members of the boating industry, covering various topics and statistics during the annual Industry Breakfast. According to the online article “Miami 2024: State of the Boating Industry” by tradeonlytoday.com, Frank Hugelmeyer, NMMA president and CEO, stated that in 2023, the personal watercraft segment was up 15% year-over-year in his State of the Recreational Boating Industry address. In the same article, Dave Chanda, President of the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation, stated that participation amongst first-time anglers has increased by 10%, and 2 million have returned to fishing since 2022. Shown during his slide presentation, Chandra also pointed out that 54.5M Americans aged six and above went fishing in 2022. In addition, sustainability goals, advocacy issues, and other matters were also topics of discussion.
