MarineMax’s Tyler Layton Named Tampa Bay Business Journal 40 Under 40

This prestigious award celebrates accomplished young leaders who are making a significant impact in their industries and communities.-
At 35, Layton leads all finance and insurance operations for MarineMax and Newcoast, overseeing a national team of over 150 professionals. His commitment to excellence and strategic leadership has been instrumental in the growth of MarineMax’s financial services, solidifying his reputation as a driving force in the marine industry.
“Being the first in my family to graduate from college, I understand the power of education and the importance of perseverance,” said Layton. “My upbringing has provided me with humility and a burning desire to do something great. I absolutely love what I do and the people I do it with.”
Layton’s career path has been marked by both fiscal and leadership achievements. Before joining MarineMax, Layton served as a budget officer during his deployment with the U.S. Army in Saudi Arabia, managing a $49 million operational budget. Following his military service, he entered the business world through a management role with Mercedes-Benz of Sarasota, later bringing his expertise to MarineMax. Since joining the company eight years ago, Layton’s leadership has contributed to MarineMax’s continued success and growth in the marine retail industry.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Layton is deeply committed to community service as a former Army Reserve officer and an engaged member of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church. His dedication to service, both inside and outside the workplace, exemplifies the values MarineMax upholds.
