The origin of our 48 Flybridge can be traced directly to feedback from owners, who said they wanted a wave-busting sportfisher with three staterooms, but only if it had the CABO stamp on it. That show of support led us to build - or rather, overbuild - a boat that performs remarkably well as both a big-game hunter and a live-aboard cruising platform. From her modified-V bottom to her immaculate construction, this model is for owners who know what they want in a convertible, and who aren't afraid to ask for it by name.

Performance

As expected, the 48 Flybridge boasts all the materials and craftsmanship that have made CABO the frontrunner among manufacturers of world-class offshore fishing machines. The hull, which is solid fiberglass below the waterline with composite vacuum-bagged sides, has a sharp entry that leads back to a nearly flat aft section. This gives the boat a solid, stable feel in both head seas and following seas, plus outstanding maneuverability whether backing down on a fish or docking.

According to independent performance tests, the 48 Flybridge can reach a highly competitive range of more than 550 miles and a top speed of more than 40 mph. And with engine packages ranging up to twin 1,100-hp MAN diesels, she can cruise contentedly while handling anything that gets in her way.

Fishability

The design team at CABO listened carefully to the needs of its sportfishing owners. Consequently, the cockpit is the biggest in her class, providing as much space as many larger battlewagons. Placement of the essentials - bait freezers, livewells, tackle drawers, and cabinets for gaffs and bait nets - is strategically planned. Huge fish boxes are molded into the cockpit sole and equipped with in-line macerators, full-length piano hinges, gas struts, rubber gaskets, and, if desired, an optional ice chipper. Lures and tools are easily organized at the rigging station, which includes a sink, cutting board, and bait chest. In short, the CABO 48 Flybridge offers all the goods for anglers who seek the ideal platform for bluewater fishing.

Design & Construction

In the engine room, every square inch of surface space is finished in white gelcoat for effortless cleanup and long-lasting durability. Equally important, every component and system can be easily accessed for maintenance or repair. Fuel lines are aircraft-grade braided stainless steel, and every hose is double clamped for added security. Wiring is perfectly loomed and labeled, and hidden behind dedicated runs. Accommodations

When it's time to cook up the catch of the day, the galley includes a recessed twin-burner cook top, a convection/microwave oven, custom Corian® countertops with sea-rails, and separate Sub-Zero® refrigerator and freezer drawers. A starboard dining table and portside settee provide space for everyone to spread out.

Forward down the companionway, the master stateroom to port features a pedestal berth, hanging locker, flatscreen television and DVD player, and private head with a shower stall. Located forward on centerline is the VIP stateroom, with large cedar-lined hanging lockers and a private entry to the guest head. The guest cabin is to starboard and comes with two berths and a washer/dryer combo unit. In addition, each of the 48 Flybridge's staterooms includes abundant storage, enough for long, comfortable cruises or fishing forays far from home.
